It is sometimes called the Ilon Wheel, after its inventor Bengt Erland Ilon (an employee of the Swedish company Mecanum AB). This is not a new invention - the first US patent was filed in 1972. Each wheel consists of diagonal rubber rollers. When the axle turns, it works like a normal wheel. To take advantage of this special kinematics, a 4WD is required in the vehicle. Identical wheel pairs are mounted diagonally. This way, the axles of the rollers point towards the center of the vehicle. Depending on the speed and direction of the wheels, your vehicle or robot can move in any direction you want. To mount these wheels to a TT motor, the OT3578 coupling is required.
